Man fatally shot near Alice Griffith public housing in Bayview

A man was fatally shot on Monday near the Alice Griffith housing project in the Bayview, according to San Francisco police.

The man was found suffering from a gunshot wound at 5:30 a.m. near the intersection of Arelious Walker Drive and Fitzgerald Avenue, according to Sgt. Michael Andraychak, a police spokesperson.

The man, who has not been identified, was rushed to the hospital where he died.

The shooting marks the 22nd homicide in San Francisco so far this year.

On Saturday night, a 30-year-old man was gunned down in a triple shooting in the Mission District. The shooting happened near Mission and 17th streets.

The two other victims, both 20-year-old men, were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds and released on Sunday.

Police said the suspects are “unknown” in both the Mission and Bayview homicides. The Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released the victim’s identity pending notification of the family.

The latest homicide comes a week after a pair of shootings at the Alice Griffith and Bayview housing projects injured two men.

Police said at the time that the shootings last Tuesday night and Wednesday morning did not appear to be related.

One 24-year-old man was shot at Nichols and Cameron ways, while a 20-year-old man was shot on Oakdale Avenue between Ingalls and Griffith streets.
