Man chased down street by knife-wielding assailant in the Tenderloin

A suspect has been arrested for allegedly chasing a man down the street in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood late Monday night, threatening him with a knife and choking him, police said Wednesday.

The attack was reported at 11:44 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of Ellis Street where the suspect, a 52-year-old man, approached the victim and allegedly brandished a knife.

The suspect chased the 43-year-old victim down the street and tried to strangle him, police said.

The victim was injured in the attack but is expected to survive.

Police were able to locate and arrest the suspect, whose identity was not immediately released Wednesday morning.
