Man beaten with cane, robbed by four people in Tenderloin

A 59-year-old man was beaten and robbed Tuesday night by a group of people in the Tenderloin after he refused to give them money, according to police.

The man was walking near Leavenworth Avenue at Turk Street at 9:30 p.m. when he was asked by a woman in a group for money.

When he refused, the woman hit him with a cane, and he fell to the ground. Then, three men in the group went through his pockets and took his wallet and its contents before fleeing.

The victim, who was taken to a nearby hospital, is expected to recover.

No arrests have been made in the case.
