Man attacked with ax in North Beach

A 27-year-old man was attacked with an ax Saturday afternoon in North Beach, according to police.

The 3:19 p.m. incident at Powell and Bay streets began when the victim got in a heated argument with one of four other men he was “hanging out with,” police said.

That’s when the 30-year-old suspect revealed the ax and struck the victim in the abdomen.

He fled with the other three men. No arrests have been made and the victim is expected to survive.
