Man assaulted with Razor Scooter while waiting in line for food

A man was assaulted with a Razor Scooter while he waited in line for food at a church in the Tenderloin on Monday afternoon, police said.

The 52-year-old victim and suspect were in line about 4:25 p.m., Officer Albie Esparza said, when they got involved in a verbal argument over people cutting in line in the 300 block of Ellis Street near Glide Memorial Church.

The suspect, described by police as a man in his early 20s, became agitated and the argument escalated when the suspect struck the victim in the face with a Razor Scooter, Esparza said.

The suspect then fled the scene westbound and has not been arrested.

He was described as being about 5-foot-3, 125 pounds, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans riding a silver Razor Scooter with blue wheels.

The victim sustained lacerations to his face and was treated at the hospital for those injuries, which were not life threatening.

A spokeswoman for Glide said that the incident happened outside the church, and that they helped the victim by contacting police and saw to his injuries before paramedics arrived.

“It was not really a big deal,” Glide's Denise Lamott said. “These things happen from time to time, but usually people are very well-behaved.”
