A man who fired multiple shots inside a hotel on Market Street in downtown San Francisco early Sunday morning was taken into custody peacefully after officers negotiated with him, police said.

Officers got reports of possible gunfire at 4:55 a.m. Sunday, according Officer Robert Rueca. Witnesses told police the man shot the gun inside the hotel on the 700 block of Market St., where the Four Seasons Hotel is located.

The man, described as 45 years old by Rueca, refused to come out of the hotel. Police set up a perimeter and communicated with the suspect by telephone, and he peacefully surrendered around 6:30 a.m., Rueca said.

There were no reports of injuries, according to Rueca.

The man is in custody and is being medically evaluated, Rueca said.

The spokesman said the man has not been arrested.

“It’s still under investigation,” Rueca said.
