A 60-year-old man arrested in connection with the stabbing death of a 63-year-old woman in Pacific Heights on Sunday has been released from custody and no charges have been filed due to a lack of evidence, according to the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.
The victim, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office, was Donna Montilliano of San Francisco.
She was killed Sunday around 4:45 p.m. near the intersection of California and Pierce streets, said police.
Eugene Bell was arrested Monday and booked on suspicion of murder.
But Bell was released from jail Tuesday without being charged. Still, the investigation is ongoing, said Alex Bastian, a spokesperson with the DA’s office.
