Muni track repair work on Market Street in the Castro District will shut down lanes to traffic this weekend and reroute Muni lines.

Muni track repair work on Market Street in the Castro District will shut down lanes to traffic this weekend and reroute Muni lines.

The work, which started Friday night, will last until 5 a.m. on Monday, shutting down Church Street in both directions for through traffic.

The westbound side of Market Street will also be shut down, according to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, which is overseeing the two-year rail replacement project.

Several Muni lines will be affected by the construction work. J-Church trains will only operate between West Portal Station and Market and Church streets. Passengers can board an underground shuttle train at Church Street Station to travel between the Castro and downtown.

The F-Market historic streetcar lines will not travel further west than Ninth and Market streets, although service will be replaced by Muni shuttle buses. The 22-Fillmore, the 37-Corbett and the N-Owl will also be rerouted to avoid the construction work at Church and Market streets.
