New Year's Eve
Muni: Will offer free service, including cable cars, to all passengers from 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve to 6 a.m. on New Year’s Day. There will be extra Muni Metro service from 8 p.m. to 2:15 a.m. from the West Portal station to Caltrain. Additional Metro service from West Portal to the Embarcadero station will last until 4 a.m. There will be extra all-night Owl service on Muni’s bus lines, and trolley coaches will replace F-Market’s historic streetcars after 4 p.m.
BART: Will extend service hours until 3 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Starting at 8 p.m., BART will run special “skip-stop” service in downtown San Francisco stations to avoid overcrowding. Inbound trains coming from Dublin/Pleasanton and Fremont will make their first stop in San Francisco at the Embarcadero station. Inbound trains from Richmond and Pittsburg/Bay Point will make their first stop at the Montgomery station. At 12:20 a.m., after the fireworks in San Francisco are over, passengers heading for Dublin/Pleasanton and Fremont stops need to board at the Embarcadero station. Customers traveling to Richmond and Pittsburg/Bay Point stations need to board at Montgomery station.
Caltrain: Will offer free service for passengers after 11 p.m. Trains will operate on a Saturday schedule, but will add extra service after midnight. The last southbound train will depart San Francisco at 2:15 a.m.
SamTrans: Will offer free service from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Service will operate on normal schedule for New Year’s Eve.
Golden Gate Transit: Will run normal Saturday service schedule.
S.F. parking: Meters, commuter tow-away, residential parking and seven-day street-sweeping restrictions will all be enforced.
New Year’s Day
Muni: Less service to stops at local schools. Everything else will remain on regular Sunday schedule.
BART: Will operate on Sunday schedule.
Caltrain: Will operate on Sunday schedule.
SamTrans: Will operate on Sunday schedule.
Golden Gate Transit: Buses will run on Sunday schedule, meaning fewer trips and later start times. There will be no ferry service available on New Year’s Day.
S.F. parking: No parking restrictions will be enforced.
Jan. 2
Muni: Normal weekday schedule.
BART: Normal weekday schedule.
Caltrain: Will operate on a Saturday schedule. Trains will be less frequent than normal weekday service.
SamTrans: Will operate on a Saturday schedule. Buses will be less frequent than normal weekday service.
Golden Gate Transit: Both bus and ferry service will operate on a holiday schedule. Buses and ferries will be less frequent than normal weekday service.
S.F. parking: No parking restrictions will be enforced.
