BART General Manager Dorothy Dugger, presiding over an agency that has a budget surplus of $10 million to $28 million, has announced her resignation, with her last day scheduled for April 22.

Dugger will be paid $958,000 to buy out her contract.

In February, the agency’s board of directors voted 5-4 to ask Dugger to resign, although the vote was later rescinded due to a violation of California’s public meeting laws. Since then, there have been consistent rumors that Dugger would step down from the agency on her own terms.
