Part of a BART train in Concord headed toward San Francisco derailed this morning, causing major delays but no injuries, according to the agency.
BART spokesman Linton Johnson said wheels on the last two cars of a 10-car train headed to San Francisco International Airport came off the tracks at about 9:20 a.m.
The 65 people on the train, including some children, were evacuated, Johnson said.
“It’s probably a very scary incident for folks, but no injuries,” Johnson said.
Bus bridges are being set up in the area, and there is no train traffic moving in either direction between Pleasant Hill and Pittsburg-Bay Point, according to Johnson.
BART is still investigating the cause of the incident.
