Two children were injured and four adults were hospitalized from being pepper sprayed at the Powell Street Muni station in San Francisco Saturday evening, a police spokesman said.

Someone sprayed pepper spray for unknown reasons near turnstiles to the Powell Street Muni metro station at about 6 p.m., according to a police spokesman and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.

No one was seriously injured, but two station agents and two bystanders were taken to a local hospital as a precaution. Another two adults and two children were also sprayed, but they didn't need to go to the hospital, police Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.

Responding fire and police officers closed the station for about 15 minutes to investigate the spraying. Muni service ran through the station but didn't stop, Andraychak said.

No arrests were made and police haven't identified any suspects.
