A winter wonderland is what people may be thinking about with the possibility of snow in San Francisco.
But also possible is traffic accidents, especially if there is a mix of alcohol with the drivers, warns San Francisco Police Department Capt. Al Casciato, with the police traffic company.
He warned drivers to simply pay attention.
“Everyone wants to watch the snow come down,” he said. “They’ll be out on the sidewalks and crossing the streets, so we advise that drivers pay close attention and slow way down and watch for pedestrians and those playing in the snow.”
Casciato advised drivers to clean windshields both inside and out, turn headlights on and not drive impaired.
Conflicting reports have emerged around how low the snow levels will get. Some forecasters say 500 feet, while others insist the frozen crystals will stay in the higher peaks surrounding San Francisco.
Either with snow or just rain, Casciato said the roads will be dangerous with the precipitation.
