Three injured in light-rail collision; service resumed

A Muni driver and two passengers were injured Thursday morning when a J-Church train ran into an F-Market streetcar that was using the same tracks, according to Muni.

They were both traveling inbound from San Jose Avenue near Highland Avenue around 6:30 a.m. when the J train struck the streetcar, according to Muni spokesman Judson True.

It was in an area where the streetcar uses the tracks to enter service. No one was on the F except for the driver, according to True.

The operator of the streetcar and two women who were riding the J-Church were taken to a hospital, True said. None of their injuries were considered life threatening, he said.

Muni provided bus shuttles between San Jose Avenue, 30th Avenue and Balboa Park. The accident was cleared at 8:35 a.m. and normal service resumed.
