Assemblymember Fiona Ma, D-San Francisco, wants employers to provide their workers with at least five days per year of paid sick leave. Companies with more than 10 employees would have to provide at least nine days. Ma’s bill, AB 2716, is modeled on the paid sick leave law that went into effect last year in The City. Ma’s bill has passed the state Assembly and is set to be heard before the Senate Appropriations Committee this week.
