A shooting took place Wednesday during a track meet at Pinole Valley High School, a West Contra Costa Unified School District spokesman said.
A police dispatcher confirmed the shooting happened at about 4 p.m., but did not have any details regarding possible injuries or arrests.
School district spokesman Marin Trujillo said no students involved in the multischool track meet, which included students from El Cerrito, DeAnza and Pinole Valley high schools, were injured.
Trujillo said that the school will be open at regular hours Thursday with heightened security.
