Achievement: The hula hoop stuntman, sometimes called Dizzy Hips, is featured in the new edition of the Ripley’s Believe it or Not book “Prepare to be Shocked!” a multi-million selling series featuring bizarre and amazing facts and pictures.

Kids learn how literacy can keep them safe on the street 

San Francisco public safety officials are lending their hand to help children learn about the importance of reading.

On Aug. 15, San Francisco police officers and firefighters visited children at the Glide Foundation after-school program for a Hoopoe Books Share Literacy Program read-along.

Alice de Moraes, administrator of the program, said, "The visit by the police officers and firefighters at the Hoopoe Books Share Literacy Program read-along event was a wonderful opportunity for the kids to learn that good reading and thinking skills help keep them street-safe."

Officers in attendance included Lt. Mike Charlton and firefighter Ted Creighton from the fire department, and San Francisco police Capt. Gary Jimenez and Sgt. Gaetano Caltagirone.

Andrews’s work is valuable for its framing of the Slow Food movement within larger contemporary political debates and theoretical approaches.It's a response to the dominance of fast food chains that cause desperate overweight people trying to lose weight...
