A woman driving a 1971 convertible died after a roll-over accident, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver, identified as 54-year-old Gail Burnett of Half Moon Bay, apparently veered her 1971 MG, a convertible sedan, to the right and then over-corrected to the left, driving off northbound Verde Road, south of Purisma Creek Road. Her car then rolled over and came to a stop on its roof around 3:10 p.m., according to CHP Officer Art Montiel.
Burnett suffered major injuries, including major head trauma. She was pronounced dead at the scene, Montiel said.
The collision is under investigation and a toxicology report is underway to determine if alcohol played a role in the crash. She was wearing a seatbelt, Montiel said.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact CHP Officer S. Hennessy at (650) 369-6261.
