A 51-year-old man was found dead in his car at a Park & Ride lot off of Interstate Highway 280 near Redwood City early this morning, a San Mateo County deputy coroner said.
No other cars were involved nor were there reports of a crash when California Highway Patrol authorities went to check on a disabled vehicle on the side of northbound I-280 at Edgewood Road just after midnight. Officials discovered what appeared to be a dead man in a car, CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano said.
The man was pronounced dead at 12:17 a.m., Caggiano said.
The San Mateo County coroner’s office identified the man as Campbell resident Douglas Watson.
Watson was found dead in his car, deputy coroner Roger Fielding said.
The case is under investigation, but there is nothing suspicious about his death, Fielding said.
