Man struck, killed by Caltrain in Mountain View on Wednesday night identified

A man who was struck and killed by a Caltrain on Wednesday night in Mountain View has been identified by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office as Cecil Joseph Bloch.

Bloch, 63, was a Mountain View resident and his death appears to have been a suicide, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Bloch was struck by a southbound train on the tracks south of the San Antonio station at about 6:50 p.m., a Caltrain spokeswoman said.

This was the seventh fatality on the Caltrain tracks this year, of which three were determined to be suicides and three remain under investigation. Last year there were 11 fatalities.
