Newsmaker: Chad Crittenden

The cancer survivor who participated in the ninth season of the CBS  show “Survivor” will be speaking at 9 a.m. at a 24-hour relay in Half Moon Bay on Saturday hosted by the American Cancer Society. Crittenden, who grew up in Half Moon Bay, had to have his right leg amputated below the knee after a doctor found he had synovial sarcoma, a rare and deadly form of soft-tissue cancer.

He will speak to relay participants at about 9 a.m. to raise awareness of the fact that so many people are suffering or recovering from cancer worldwide.
