Near-simultaneous one-alarm blazes in SF

San Francisco firefighters were called to two one-alarm fires reported within minutes of each other late Monday morning, a fire spokeswoman said.

The first was a mattress fire reported at about 11:30 a.m. at 3435 24th St., near San Jose Avenue in the city's Mission District.

A few minutes later, firefighters were called to Ross Alley in Chinatown where a small blaze was burning on the top floor of a three-story building, Talmadge said.

That fire was confined to the room where it started, she said.

No injuries were reported in either blaze.
