Motorcycle accident spurs Golden Gate Bridge lane closure

Traffic was briefly stifled on the Golden Gate Bridge on Tuesday morning due to a major-injury accident involving a motorcycle, cops said.

A southbound motorcyclist rear-ended a gray Toyota 4Runner just north of the toll plaza around 8:50 a.m., California Highway Patrol Sgt. John Carman said. The accident caused a five-minute shutdown of lanes going both directions during the peak of the morning commute, he said.

All lanes in both directions were open around 9:30 a.m., Carman said.

The conditions of the accident victims were not immediately known.
