The City’s solar program coordinator helped organize the Department of the Environment’s Green Energy Fair, which runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Golden Gate Park.
What’s planned at the fair? We’ll have exhibitors providing demonstrations and information on renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency, urban wind and we’ll have a solar water-heating tour.
What is solar water heating? Instead of using electricity or a natural gas water heater, this allows you to use less of the traditional fuel because you’re using the sun to preheat the water.
Where will the tour visit? We’ll leave the band shell at 10:30 and 11:30. People can show up and reserve a seat on the bus, but we’ll also have maps available if they want to take the tour independent of the buses.
What urban wind-power information will be provided? A couple of companies that sell urban wind turbines are going to have some display equipment to show a couple of the popular models that could be used in San Francisco.
What if people are short of cash needed for those projects? There are a lot of incentives available right now which help bring down the cost.
