Fire department called to help retrieve passenger stuck in elevator

The San Francisco Fire Department was called this evening to a building in the city's Civic Center District to help retrieve someone who was stuck in an elevator, a fire dispatcher said.

The fire department received a call at about 7:20 p.m. of someone being stuck near Larkin Street and Golden Gate Avenue, the dispatcher said.

Units were still on the scene as of about 7:40 p.m.

It was unclear how many people were trapped.
