Two murderers in two separate San Francisco homicide trials were convicted Wednesday, District Attorney Kamala Harris announced.

In the first case, defendant Bruce Brooks, 57, was convicted of second-degree murder by a jury for the May 2002 beating death of his girlfriend Juliet Williamson.

The maximum statutory penalty faced by the defendant is 15 years to life. Brooks is scheduled to return to court Sept. 2 to set a date for sentencing.

In a separate, unrelated trial Chad Dias, 23, was convicted of one count of murder in the first degree, one count of attempted first-degree murder and one count of robbery by a jury for the March 2005 shooting death of Christy Chan, the shooting and maiming of her boyfriend George Tang and the theft of two pounds of marijuana.

Dias is scheduled to return to court Aug. 26 to set a date for sentencing. He faces a possible life sentence.

“I thank the jury for doing their part to hold these killers accountable for their heinous crimes,” Harris said.
