Woman found killed in New Orleans was San Francisco resident

SAN FRANCISCO – A woman found dead on a sidewalk Saturday in New Orleans’ hurricane-battered 9th Ward neighborhood has been identified as a San Francisco community organizer, Kirsten Brydum, who had stopped in New Orleans as part of a cross-country trek to visit activist groups. John Gagliano, chief investigator for the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office, said the 25-year-old Brydum had been shot several times in the head. They have not released a motive or information about suspects in the case.
