The San Francisco Police Department on Wednesday provided an update on the investigation into the high-profile disappearance of 10-year-old Kevin Collins in 1984.

The department hed a news conference with Police Chief Greg Suhr at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in which they named Dan Therrien as the main person of interest in the case. They also revealed that Therrien, who went by a number of aliases, was wanted in a kidnapping case involving teens in Canada and a 1981 case of lewd act with a child at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco.

Police searched a home near San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district last week in connection with the decades-old cold case. Therrien lived in the house at the time that Collins disappeared.

Police said a preliminary review of bones discovered at the home indicated they were from an animal.

Kevin's disappearance garnered national attention. His photo appeared on milk cartons and the cover of Newsweek.
