The sleepy car thieves both possessed methamphetamine and the female suspect, Desirae Naomi Reese, 22, had a pipe used to smoke the drug.

These alleged meth heads suddenly lost their need for speed — and that couldn’t have come at a worse time.

San Mateo County sheriff’s deputies made two arrests just north of Half Moon Bay on Saturday after they were called about a vehicle that was blocking a driveway on San Mateo Road, which doubles as state Highway 92 in that area.

When deputies arrived about 5:40 p.m., a man and a woman were reportedly asleep inside the vehicle. The deputies said they then discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Clear Lake.

It must have been a rude awakening for the occupants, who were identified Monday as Billy Ray Neldon, 25, and Desirae Naomi Reese, 22, both of Clear Lake.

They both possessed methamphetamine, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, and Reese also allegedly had a pipe that could be used to smoke the drug.

The pair were booked into County Jail on charges that included possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia. They also were accused of possessing a stolen vehicle.
