The two shootings took place on Leavenworth Street, just a short distance from fans attending the Giants World Series parade on Market Street.

A shooting wounded two men in the Tenderloin on Wednesday afternoon just blocks from the Civic Center event where thousands of Giants fans were celebrating the team’s World Series win.

Police responded to the shooting in the 200 block of Leavenworth Street, near Turk Street, at 2:43 p.m., spokesman Officer Carlos Manfredi said.

Manfredi said one man was shot in the head and another in the torso. The men were transported to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The shooters fled before police arrived, Manfredi said.

Police Sgt. Michael Andraychak told The Associated Press that the shooting doesn’t appear to be related to the Giants’ event.
Investigators were searching for video to identify the suspects. The police gang task force is handling the case, Manfredi said.
