A 24-year-old man was killed in a shooting Friday night, and another man was injured by gunfire Sunday.

In the fatal shooting, a man who has not been identified was reportedly involved in a fight with multiple people in the 3100 block of 16th Street about 11:30 p.m. During the fight, police said, one of the suspects shot the man in the head.

He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, and Monday the Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed he had died.

The second shooting took place Sunday morning. A 19-year-old man was standing with a group of people in front of a residence in the unit block of Dakota Street about 10 a.m.

He heard gunshots, then realized he had been struck in the back. The man also was hospitalized, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

As of Monday, no arrests had been announced in either case.

Anyone who has information about either shooting can call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
