Man badly hurt in Mission District bus stop stabbing

A man was critically injured in a stabbing at a bus stop on Mission Street, police said.

The stabbing was reported around 9:15 p.m. Saturday near Mission Street and Brazil Avenue in San Francisco’s Excelsior district.

The 22-year-old victim was at a bus stop with his girlfriend when a suspect approached and asked him if he was affiliated with a gang, according to police. The victim said he was not, but the suspect, reported to be in his teens, pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the torso, then fled, police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries, which were considered life-threatening.
