Police surround building in SOMA as person shoots rounds from building

Police have surrounded a building in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood after a person has been letting off rounds from the building late Thursday night, according to San Francisco police.

A person is shooting from a building around Ninth and Harrison streets and police have surrounded the building and are waiting to make their next move as of 11:45 p.m., police said.

Around 11:10 p.m. cars at the intersection of Ninth and Bryant streets were quickly ushered through the area as three or four police officers crouched behind a marked patrol car with its lights on. Three shots were heard and police appeared to have drawn their weapons toward a building on the northwest corner of Ninth and Bryant streets.

On Ninth Street between Bryant and Harrison streets at least four patrol cars were idling.

San Francisco fire dispatchers said police had requested a ladder truck to the area around 11:30 p.m.
