A 34-year-old man has been arrested for the fatal shooting of another man inside a Bernal Heights home late Monday, police said.
Anthony Wright was being held Tuesday on murder and weapons charges in connection with the slaying of 28-year-old Richard Fowler Jr., of San Francisco, according to police and the Medical Examiner’s Office.
A suspect with a handgun shot Fowler in the head at about 9:40 p.m. Monday at a residence in the 400 block of Franconia Street, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The area is a residential neighborhood just west of U.S. Highway 101.
Police said the suspect ran from the home, and then was seen running into a nearby house on Holladay Avenue. He was taken into custody a short time later, police said.
Wright, also of San Francisco, was booked into San Francisco County Jail Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Police did not release further information, including a possible motive for the killing, and are still investigating the case.
The shooting is San Francisco’s 45th homicide of the year. At the same time last year, The City had 37.
