A vicious parking lot brawl at Candlestick Park that injured three people, including a security guard, led to a trio of arrests and the seizure of a Colt pistol on Sunday, police at Bayview Station said Monday.
San Francisco cops working security at the San Francisco 49ers game found one of the victims bleeding from the head in the parking lot around 5 p.m., shortly after the home team lost to the Dallas Cowboys 27-24 in overtime.
Three suspects were apparently mad at the victim for standing in front of their car and not allowing them to back out, police said. After exchanging words with the victim, the suspects got out of the car and assaulted him.
One suspect hit him several times in the head with a flashlight, while another smashed a bottle over his head, police said. A third suspect allegedly whipped out a knife, but apparently did not use it.
The victim’s friend and a security guard who witnessed the attack were assaulted when they tried to intervene. The security guard was punched several times by two of the suspects, police said.
Police secured the crime scene and seized the flashlight used in the attack.
After searching the suspects’ car, cops said they found a Colt pistol hidden in a beanie cap that was between the driver’s seat and center console.
“The gun had the serial number scratched off,” police said.
All three suspects were booked on multiple charges including weapons violations, police said.
The victims were transported to a hospital, where they were treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries.
