San Francisco police will be canvassing part of The City’s Bernal Heights neighborhood today to try to learn more about a fatal shooting that occurred in broad daylight there a week ago.
Kevin Hall, 18, was shot around 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 25 near the intersection of Alemany Boulevard and Crescent Avenue.
Hall was with another person in a faded red Buick that was traveling east on Alemany Boulevard at the time of the shooting, according to police.
When the Buick stopped at a red light, another car pulled up alongside it. A suspect described as a black male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt got out of the passenger side of that car, walked to the rear of the victims’ vehicle and opened fire, police said.
The shooter fled the scene in the suspect vehicle, described as possibly a silver two-door Acura or Honda, with a license plate beginning with the number “5.” The car’s windows were tinted and the headlights were covered with a yellow film.
Hall was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he later died.
Between noon and 1 p.m. today, homicide inspectors and officers from the Police Department’s Ingleside Station will be canvassing the area around the intersection where the shooting occurred, contacting motorists and handing out fliers to try to locate witnesses to the crime.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
