A man shot multiple times while sitting in his car in the South of Market district Saturday has died, marking two gun killings in San Francisco during the Labor Day weekend.

The San Francisco medical examiner on Wednesday identified 23-year-old John Moore as the victim. He was shot by apparent gang thugs in the 1000 block of Harrison Street.

Two suspected gangbangers walked up to Moore’s car shortly before 2:30 a.m., opened fire, then fled on foot, police said. Moore died from his injuries Tuesday, police said.

After interviewing witnesses, police arrested one of the suspects and recovered a handgun, police Lt. Troy Dangerfield said. Cops are still hunting the second suspect.

The gang task force is on the case.

Then on Monday in the Mission district, neighbors were startled awake by a brazen shooting on the relatively quiet Camp Street around 2:20 a.m. The medical examiner identified the victim Wednesday as Dwayne Spruell, 45, of San Francisco.

Police have not announced an arrest in that case.
