Five people were injured in a shooting near Seventh and Market streets on Saturday night, two of them seriously, San Francisco police are reporting.

Two victims in the 6:15 p.m. shooting on the 1000 block of Market Street, only blocks from the Pink Saturday festivities at Civic Center that are part of Pride weekend, were shot in the body and are being treated for life-threatening injuries, Lt. Troy Dangerfield said. 

Three others sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, Dangerfield said. Two people were shot in the leg and one was shot in the buttocks.

Police are searching for a suspect described as a black male in his 20s, about 6 feet tall with dreadlocks. It was not clear which direction he was traveling following the shooting.

Witnesses described large crowds of Pride weekend celebrants gathered on Market Street when at least seven shots rang out. One shooting victim staggered into a nearby restaurant, bleeding profusely. Three bullets went into a nearby store, but no one was struck.
