Two men believed to have taken part in the robbery and stabbing of a 40-year-old man in Dolores Park last year will go to prison after pleading guilty in court Tuesday.

Police and prosecutors said Gerard Rivera, 19, and Jasper Bailey, 20, were part of a group of as many as 12 people who confronted the man in the Mission district park at about 1:30 a.m. on July 31.

The man was then beaten, robbed and stabbed multiple times in the abdomen, police and prosecutors said. He was found bleeding near 19th and Church streets and hospitalized with severe injuries.

Rivera, the suspected stabber according to prosecutors, was arrested three days later and charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, robbery and receiving stolen property. Bailey was arrested five days later and charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and robbery.

In court Tuesday, Rivera pleaded guilty to robbery causing great bodily injury, for which he will serve two years in state prison, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Bailey pleaded guilty to grand theft, and will go to prison for 16 months, the District Attorney’s Office said.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 3.
