A neighbor helped police interrupt a home invasion robbery and arrest three men in San Francisco's Bernal Heights neighborhood on Thursday night, police said.

The home invasion occurred at about 11:45 p.m. at an apartment building in the 900 block of Tompkins Avenue.

A 30-year-old man was closing the front gate of the building when a suspect forced it open, took out a handgun and forced the man to open the door to his apartment, according to police.

The suspect ordered the man to lie on the floor, as well as two women already in the apartment, while two other suspects came into the residence and ransacked it, police said.

A neighbor called police during the home invasion, and responding officers were able to take the three suspects into custody.

The names of the suspects, all men, were not immediately available, according to police.

None of the victims were injured in the incident, police said.
