A Bayview shooting Tuesday was the result of a spat between rival gangs, police said Wednesday.
Two men were in taken into custody soon after gunfire erupted near the intersection of Revere Avenue and Newhall Street at 7 p.m., according to San Francisco Police Officer Albie Esparza.
The victim, described as a 20-year-old man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his lower body, police said.
When officers arrived in the area of Quesada Avenue and Third Street, they saw a silver Honda Civic moving at a high rate of speed. Officers followed the vehicle and saw one person throw a handgun from the passenger-side window, Esparza said.
Officers then conducted a traffic stop when the car continued onto the Quesada cul-de-sac. Two men in their 20s were taken into custody.
A second officer arrived on the scene and recovered the gun, according to Esparza.
San Francisco Police Gang Task Force continues to investigate the incident.
