New details have emerged from the Thursday morning shooting in the Bayview district, in which an 18-year-old man was hospitalized after being gunned down while stepping off a Muni bus.

By using camera footage from the Muni bus, police have been able to confirm the identities of the two shooters, both teenagers with gang affiliations, according to reports released Friday from the Bayview police station.

Evidence at the scene also indicates that the victim was stepping off a 44-O’Shaugnessy bus when he was shot on Thursday morning, a detail that hadn’t been confirmed until today. Police found nine shell casings at the site, which occurred at the intersection of Newhall Street and Palou Avenue.

The victim was shot multiple times in the torso, but after getting treated at San Francisco General Hospital, he is expected to make a full recovery, according to police.

The Bayview police district and members of the department’s gang task force are actively pursuing the suspects, who are believed to be between the ages of 13 and 16.
