Two men are in custody following a shooting Tuesday evening in the Bayview neighborhood after attempting to flee the scene.

The shooting occurred around 7 p.m. near the intersection of Revere Avenue and Newhall Street, according to San Francisco Police Officer Albie Esparza. Officers responded to a shots fire call.

The victim, described as an adult male, suffered non-life threatening injuries to his lower body, police said.

When officers arrived in the area of Quesada Avenue and Third Street, they witnessed a silver Honda driving at a high rate of speed. Officers followed the vehicle and saw one person throw a handgun from the passenger side window, Esparza said.

Officers then conducted a traffic stop when the car continued on to the Quesada cul-de-sac. Two men were taken in to custody.

A secondary officer arrived on scene and recovered a gun in the area it was witnessed being tossed, according to Esparza.

San Francisco Police Gang Task Force continues to investigate the incident.
