The stabbing was reported at about 9:50 p.m. near the intersection of 16th and Mission streets, according to police.
The victim, a 44-year-old man, got into an argument on the street with four males he did not know, police officer Albie Esparza said.
During the argument, one pulled out a knife and stabbed him, police said.
The victim suffered minor cuts to his face and head, and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, according to police.
