Last month, ex-San Francisco criminalist Deborah Madden learned she would not be prosecuted after she admitted to skimming cocaine from The City’s crime-lab evidence room. But she is not completely in the clear.
Madden still faces an unrelated drug-possession charge in San Mateo County. In March, police say they found 0.09 grams of cocaine during a search of Madden’s San Mateo home.
Today, a judge will consider setting a preliminary hearing date for that case. Madden, who is out of custody on a $10,000 bond, has pleaded not guilty.
