Murder suspect Gregory Elarms is scheduled to be arraigned in San Mateo County Superior Court Tuesday afternoon, Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
Elarms, a 58-year-old Pittsburg resident, is suspected of gunning down East Palo Alto community leader David Lewis outside the Hillsdale Shopping Center on June 9.
Elarms was arrested early Sunday morning at San Mateo police headquarters, and police announced the arrest at a news conference on Monday.
Police Chief Susan Manheimer said investigators believe Elarms followed Lewis to the mall from the nearby San Mateo Medical Center, where Lewis was conducting HIV testing and counseling.
Elarms is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. at the Hall of Justice in Redwood City.
