The first rain showers since midsummer are expected to fall over The City on Monday, part of a storm system headed toward the region.

Daytime temperatures won’t rise above the 60s starting this weekend and continuing through early next week, National Weather Service meteorologist Diana Henderson said.

The cool weather and rain shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise as fall approaches, she said.

But the weather system expected Monday will be stronger than usual for this time of year because it is a remnant of former Western Pacific Typhoon Melor, Henderson said.

Winds will pick up Monday evening and rain will get heavier overnight and through Tuesday night, with a chance of lingering showers Wednesday, she said.
