Thief begs for mercy after unholy heist

A thief cried out for mercy in the Outer Mission district last week after he was taken down for stealing a man’s crucifix, police said. The robbery was reported at about 1:20 p.m. Thursday in the 5200 block of Mission Street. The victim had been walking in the crosswalk at Mt. Vernon Avenue when the suspect, who had been walking past him, reached out and ripped the metal chain and copper crucifix from his neck, according to police.

Tool nailed for storage shed heist

This woman always gets stuck with the tools. A burglary suspect who was fleeing Belmont police earlier this month ditched his car along with his girlfriend, leaving her behind with all the tools he had allegedly stolen from a storage shed, according to prosecutors. Still, 25-year-old Pacifica resident Mitchell James Borden failed to evade officers following the callous May 4 incident, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.

He gives beggars citywide a bad name. A thankless thug who asked for spare change at a Bayview gas station on Wednesday robbed a 69-year-old man who had agreed to give him money, police said. The lout asked for cash as the victim got out of his car to pump gas at Third Street and Evans Avenue about 8:40 p.m. “The victim agreed and pulled a $100 bill from his wallet to pay for the gas,” according to Bayview police.

Cameron Myers, 20, identified as homicide victim

Cameron Myers, 20, of Auburn has been identified as the man found with fatal stab wounds early Wednesday near India Basin Shoreline Park. Neighbors called 911 after hearing Myers screaming near Innes Avenue and Arelious Walker Drive about 1:45 a.m. Myers later died at San Francisco General Hospital. Police have been tight-lipped about the investigation, and no arrests have been reported.

At least four cellphone robberies were reported on Muni buses or at transit shelters Wednesday, police said. About 11 a.m., a 25-year-old woman who was reportedly waiting for the bus at Third and Mission streets was knocked to the ground by a man in his 20s who swiped her cellphone.

'Wolfie' acquitted of murder in Hippie Hill attack

Marcus “Wolfie” Herrera, 24, was found not guilty Tuesday of murdering Robert Musial (pictured) in Golden Gate Park last year over a marijuana debt, but still faces up to four years in prison for beating Musial with a skateboard just before his death. The 55-year-old Musial died from an irregular heartbeat following the April 27, 2012, attack on Hippie Hill, said the Medical Examiner’s Office, which originally ruled the death a homicide.

A judge ruled Tuesday that inviting a woman to the Bernal Heights labyrinth for a “cleansing ceremony” – particularly after you have stalked her for nearly a decade – is criminally creepy.
