A woman with a small child in her car was arrested in San Leandro early Tuesday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence and child endangerment after an officer saw her throw a tequila bottle out her car window, police said.
Shortly after 2 a.m., the officer saw the woman, later identified as Lynisha Jefferson, 30, of Escalon, Calif., trying to park her Nissan Altima in the parking lot of a Quik Stop at 1001 MacArthur Blvd., police said.
The officer saw her throw what looked like a tequila bottle from her car onto the ground, according to police. The officer also noticed a baby, about 1 year old, in a car seat in the car.
The officer performed field sobriety tests on Jefferson, which she failed, police said. She was arrested and taken to jail, and her child was taken into protective custody.
Police said a small amount of marijuana was also found in her car.
