Those clear skies that made for a beautiful, sunny day throughout the Bay Area Monday have allowed prolonged freezing temperatures to creep in overnight and through the morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Throughout the Bay Area a freeze warning is in place until 8 a.m., weather officials said as of 11 p.m. Monday night.

Clear skies and light winds have dipped temperatures to 25 through 35 degrees along the corridor between San Jose and San Francisco.

Other affected areas include the North, East, South and Monterey bay regions, weather officials said.

Aside from chilly weather, black ice is likely, especially on bridges and overpasses, according to the weather service. Drivers are advised to proceed with caution during the morning commute.
